EV Tariffs
One of the great advantages of driving an electric vehicle is the low cost of charging when compared to the cost of filling up at the pump. Installing an electric vehicle charger at home enables the driver to lower those costs even further by qualifying for an electric vehicle tariff from their energy provider. This allows for a substantial reduction in off peak energy costs which will not just lower vehicle charging costs but help reduce energy costs across the entire household. We offer advice on how to best make use of these tariffs and help clients understand what options are available to them.
We work with our clients to ascertain their needs and offer advice as to what chargers are best suited to them. We are approved installers for countless brands. No one is better equipped to help you choose the best option for your needs.

Charging an electric car is considerably cheaper than filling a traditional vehicle with fuel. The cost of charging can vary, depending on your electricity tariff and the size of the battery in your electric vehicle, but taking an average-sized vehicle battery of around 50kWh and assuming that your overnight charging tariff is 8 pence per kWh, you’d be paying 0.08 x 50 which would be £4 to fill from empty to full. Depending on your vehicle’s range capacity, this could give you a range of around 150-180 miles (based on WTLP figures). Smart charging is a safe and convenient way of charging your electric vehicle at times when demand for electricity is lower, for example at night, or when there is lots of renewable energy on the grid.
Charging during these off-peak times not only reduces costs for EV drivers by using cheaper energy rates, but also helps to prevent unwanted intervals of high demand for electricity from the grid. For more information, click here to visit the Energy Saving Trust’s website.

You don’t need to inform your energy provider that you are installing an Electric Vehicle Charger, however you will probably want to tell them so you can get a cheaper charging tariff. It is however, necessary to inform the District Network Operator (DNO) who are responsible for the upkeep of your local electrical network. But don’t worry, as we will do that for you! It’s all part of the service!

Yes. You can allow people access to use your electric vehicle charger and charge them at a rate set by you, for that service. All modern Electric Vehicle Chargers are OCPP (open charge point protocol) compliant, meaning that they can all be used with various back-end software that can manage billing and user access on behalf of owner/operators.
