Electric Vehicle Charging Explained
Making the decision to get your first electric vehicle can seem a little daunting at first. One area that you may be considering is charging times and the costs involved. We all kind of knew where we were at the local filling station; fill up, check the gauge and you’re away.
But how does it work in a vehicle that doesn’t have a petrol tank?
Well it’s not as different we might think.
To help new electric vehicle owners work it all out, we have put together a couple of handy algorythms which can be used to quickly calculate the answers to most of the questions that our customers have posed to us over the years.
By scrolling a little further down this page you can now also get access to them.
Fill out all the sections below and the results will be generated at the bottom of the calculator, hopefully answering any questions you might have regarding charging costs and times.
If you’re unsure about how to answer any of the questions being asked, just hover over the little question mark to the right of each section (or tap, if you’re on a phone or tablet) and a window will pop up with a more in depth explanation of what the section is refering to. If you are still unsure then just drop us a line or email us and we wll be delighted to help.
Please note these calculators have been designed for users of domestic and light commercial AC electric vehicle chargers. As such the maximum charge rate that can be entered into the costs calculator is 22kW. If you would like us to include fast DC chargers, let us know and we’ll see if we can’t just include those too.
